Parole hearing strategy involves consideration of numerous factors, and there is no single approach that works for everyone. Each
case is different and requires analysis of a variety of factors, such as, whether to discuss the crime, prior convictions, arrests
and dismissed charges. There may be reasons to discuss these matters with the Board fully, partially, or not at all. Additionally,
the Board considers a host of subjective criteria, such as, the inmate's past and present mental state, remorse, and the extent of
the inmate's insight into the reasons for his or her crime and other behavior, such as substance or physical abuse. Preparation is
required to address these concerns, among others, appropriately during the hearing.
Numerous other strategy factors also
exist. Private members may view
The Parole Hearing Strategy Guide for consideration of the above issues, and many more.
